Omega-3 fatty acids have numerous health-promoting effects. They are important for metabolism, keep cell membranes supple, strengthen the immune system and inhibit inflammation. In food they can be found in fish, algae, nuts and seeds - unfortunately all products that many people don't eat enough of. There are three types of omega-3 fatty acids: ALA, EPA and DHA. ALA can be found in plant foods such as flaxseeds, walnuts and hemp oil, but unfortunately it is not that important. The important EPA and DHA are mainly found in fatty fish such as salmon, herring and mackerel. Another problem is the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids in the diet; there are usually too many omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-6 rich foods such as factory farmed meats and vegetable oils in processed foods should be reduced to improve the balance between omega-6 and omega-3. Omega-3 from plant sources is usually not enough to meet requirements, so consuming fish and algae is advisable. Our capsules are in the perfect dosage of EPA and DPA.
